**Any
parents wanting to sign up for Fun Friday Snacks, please email us
letting us know what date you would like and we will type your child's
name in next to that date. We do not need to know what snack you will be
providing. That can be a surprise for all of us. :) Here are some snack
ideas: cookies, chips, popsicles, popcorn, apple slices.**
Handwriting/Writing:
We
will continue to practice letter formations for our first and last
names.
Along with letters Pp, Bb and Ff. We will be learning what Kindergarten writing is and what it is not. Ex. Kindergarten writing is drawing with a pencil, coloring with a crayon, fixing mistakes and writing letters and words that match our pictures. Kindergarten writing is not scribbling, coloring everything with one color and getting upset saying, I can't!" Discuss different things with your child that they could draw and write about~ shopping at Walmart, eating at Chuck E.Cheese, flying in an airplane, going to the park, etc.
Here is one of the letter
video's we will be watching this week. Remember, Story Bots has a short video for every letter of the
alphabet! :)
Math:
We will dive into the foundations of addition this week, learning about numbers 0-5 and how we can break them apart. Here is a short video clip that will give you an idea of what we are working towards when I refer to “break apart numbers” Share it with your child and talk about the work we are doing in class breaking apart numbers!
Science:
What do scientists do? How do they observe? What are our 5
Senses? Theses are some of the questions we will explore this week! We also
learned about hand lenses last week. I found this cute Sid the Science Kid clip!
A magnifying glass is a fun tool for kids to use! My own children always
enjoyed using one. I am hoping the weather cooperates next week so we can explore
our school courtyard using our hand lenses!
Reading:
Sight
Words for the week are: orange, brown, I, the. We will review the Nursery
Rhyme Humpty Dumpty and discuss the rhyming pairs in it. We will also read the fable The Tortoise and the Hare. We will practice
retelling the events of the fable in the order that they happen. After reading stories to your child, make sure to ask them "What happened first? What happened next? What happened last?" I searched again for a video and there were a lot of great ones, but none were just right. So I typed up the fable again and turned the title into a link.
*Thursday we will be having a test on Nursery Rhymes and Fables.*
If your child is having trouble with rhyming, check out this Hooked on Phonics "Rhyme Time" video. :)
