Our Resources for the week are: Tuesday #1-18 Computer Lab and #19-31 MEDIA, Wednesday #1-18 P.E. and #19-31 Computer Lab and Thursday ART. Friday is our ZOO FIELD TRIP!! The students are very excited to go!! We are sure to have a great time!
Zavion is bringing in Fun Friday Snacks for the class!
Handwriting/Writing
We are going to be listening to a trickster tale from West Africa- Zomo the Rabbit. Then we will discuss parts of the story we liked and parts we did not like. The students will decide which or both to write about. The piece will be collected for a grade.
**Make sure to be assisting your child with writing by helping them listen for letter sounds, versus telling your child how to spell every word correctly.
Number bonds and addition are going well. The class has grasped the concept of joining groups together using the + and = signs. Duval Math teaches the equation the traditional way, 2+3=5, along with 5=2+3. This concept is a little confusing so we will work extra hard to master both equations!

Sight words for the week are: are, may, as and from. Our two Word Families are the -op and -ot family. Practice having your child make words that would belong in the families~ hop, shot, chop, cot, etc. Along with the BL- blend. Practice having your child think of words that would begin with the bl blend: block, black, blink, etc. Here is a slideshow I made for us to use in class. The words that have bl at the the beginning receive a thumbs up and ones that do not receive a thumbs down. :)
We are beginning a new Reading Module titles~ Seasons. The stories are written as letters from a girl named Annie who lives in D.C. I typed up the three stories that we are reading this week so that you can discuss these different elements of each season: temperature, clothing, months and holidays. The stories are What's the Weather Like?, Winter and Spring. We will be discussing the connections between these different elements.
