Math
The class is catching on to subtraction quickly. The biggest concern is confusing the signs + and -. The children sometimes mix them up! We read a Pete the Cat Story on Friday. It helped to teach us about subtraction. Here is the story!
Science
This week we begin exploring the concept of near and far. We will look at objects up close and then from different distances and discuss what happens to the size of the object. Does the size change or does it just appear to change? The benchmark is :
Observe that things can be big and things
can be small as seen from Earth.
Reading
Sight words for the week are: there, when, where and out. Our two Word Families are the -ug and -ub family. Practice having your child make words that would belong in the families~ tug, rug, flub, shrub, etc. Along with the FL- blend. Practice having your child think of words that would begin with the fl blend: flower, flame, flick, etc. Here is a slideshow I made for us to use in class.
We are finishing up our Reading Module~ Seasons and Weather by reading Meteorolgy. We will watch a fun Youtube video about clouds. We will also celebrate Dr. Seuss Day on Wednesday by Reading Green Eggs and Ham and discussing the life of Theodore Seuss Geisel.
